The Imagining of Intimacy is an event curated with conscious care to offer space for various expressions of intimacy to take form. Uus wanted to create a platform for the genre of performance art that can be seen as tabu, not real art, or too much. The event is curated to take place in a gallery, with or without atworks on the walls and in the space. The performers are co-creators of the space, bringing it breath and atmosphere with their bodily artworks.
The Imagining of Intimacy has three solos by performers whose artistic focus lies on themes evolving around sexuality, identity, and self-intimacy.
Paulina Pawłowska is a Polish performer and choreographer working with sexuality and power dynamics. She has performed, among others, at the National Theatre of Iceland, Warsaw Gallery Weekend, WHOISPOLA Gallery, Dragana Bar by KEM.
Fluxxious (Üüve-Lydia Toompere) embodies subservience without seeming powerless, serving as a tangible proof of the empowerment found within submission. Instead, we find within Fluxxious a complex form of strength, characterised by a profound sensitivity and an inherent power.
