gentle hardcore

Workshop by Evelin Uus

The workshop gentle hardcore focuses on developing deep trust within us, to gently, playfully and bravely create space for expanding our comfort zone. The practice is an intersect between contemporary dance and unconventional movement practices, like striptease, pole dance and raving. The aim of this workshop is to learn how to express oneself sensually, using somatic methods for doing it in a gentle and fun way without losing touch with technical contemporary dance. We will create curiosity for finding new movement pathways, encouraging each other and ourselves to move and create shapes with our bodies like they haven’t reached before – moving through gentle exploration, creating trust to play.

Main methodology in gentle hardcore is embodying nature and its movement patterns: twirling, spiraling, opening and closing, moving towards (the light); moving like a rock, wind, water, soil; mirroring what the nature is doing and seeing this as a way to get to the roots of natural movement of a body.

The workshop consists of somatic bodywork, guided improvisation, sensual movement practice, learning and deconstructing choreography. The work will be done individually, in pairs and groups.
